Maria Belova was born in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1990. After graduating from Saint Petersburg State University, Maria studied traditional and contemporary ceramics in Russia, Latvia and Uzbekistan. With a focus on eastern pottery and ceramics firing techniques, Maria creates works that combine modern experimental comprehension of clay material and traditional approach to ceramics making process. Trying to incorporate diverse media and solid research into to a more traditional craftmanship-focused studio practice, she aims to bring to the world contemporary and utilitarian objects inspired by ancient aesthetics. She is currently a member of the LASTOCHKA ART studio - creative association of artists (www.lastochkaart.com).
